Broadway Gold Day : Once again, proceedings commenced with a fabulous `Full English’ on a lovely sunny day.

No less than seven new names appeared on the starting list this year so it appears that the word has spread that this is a terrific day, good fun and very good value.

Although the greens were just a little `scabby’ compared to previous years, there were still a good number of high scores with a total of eleven players scoring 35 points or over! Two of the `new boys’ in particular had a good day, coming in first and second. The perennial bridesmaid Dean Wright once again was third.

It should be mentioned that club handicaps were in much evidence so the cries of “bandit” were not forthcoming.

Back to the Broadway for the ever popular sociable prize giving (golf balls, hats & beer vouchers).

Special mention to Jack & Brian who were awarded booby prizes and an extra beer voucher for their efforts. Despite playing with the `highlanders’ from north of the border, their playing partner Phil M. came in with a good score! I assume he just played golf, rather than using an interpreter.

Once again, may I thank you gentlemen, one and all, for participating and making it a really enjoyable day for me. Same time, same place next year unless someone suggests a different venue?
